Sipi Falls Enduro 2025
What?
An amazing 2-days MTB enduro race in one of the most beautiful parts of Uganda. If this is your first enduro, we will explain more about the concept further down.
When?
Race: 8-9th of February 2025
Race recce: 6-7th of February 2025
The race recce is not mandatory but highly recommended. We will start after lunch on Thursday and early morning on Friday.
Where?
The race will be held at Sipi falls, Uganda, around 5 hours drive from Kampala and 10 hours from Nairobi. The race center will be at Sipi heritage lodge.
Classes
Race: Suitable for those with experience in enduro or XC riding
Social ride: An opportunity to ride the route without feeling the pressure to compete. The social riders will follow after the race participants without time keeping and with more time to walk technical parts etc.
If there are many participants, we might have separate prizes for women and men and/or youth and adult.
Race route
Will be announced when the recce starts. Tentatively, each day will consist of 4-6 stages. The transport will be a mix of biking, hike-a-bike and shuttle. Expect a tough physical challenge! Saturday will be a bit longer (around 7 hours), and Sunday a bit shorter (around 5 hours).
The stages are technical and sometimes very steep. Where possible, there will be safer and slower B-lines passing the most difficult sections. For those new to enduro, there is also always an option to jump off and walk.
Fee
– Early bird (sign up and pay before January 7th): UGX 150 000
– Normal (sign up and pay before February 1st): UGX 200 000
Late registration (up to race start): UGX 200 000 No shuttle guaranteed, you might need to arrange your own or pay extra for bodaboda.
The fee should be paid with mobile money; Airtel 075 968 4748 or MPESA 076 888 5277. Both lines are in the name of Sandra Katarina Attermo.
The fee includes race, shuttle, water, snacks and simple lunch (yes, it is a rolex) during the race. The social ride includes the same things and will have the same fee. During the race recce, we will share the costs of shuttling.
Accommodation
We will be at a new place this year that will be communicated later. There will be a budget friendly option for camping as well as rooms.
Insurance
This is a high-risk activity. A health insurance is mandatory and as we are far from the nearest hospital, we also strongly recommend an insurance with medical evacuation such as Amref flying doctors or rescue.co.
Spectators
We are more than happy to welcome both cycling and non-cycling friends and family members. Sipi falls offers a lot of activities like spectacular hikes, climbing mount Elgon, abseiling and cultural tours. If there is enough interest, we will arrange transport to take spectators around to the best places to cheer the participants.

What is an enduro?
Enduro is a fun type of mountain bike racing that involves around 4-8 timed stages. The stages are technical, majorly downhill single trails. In between the stages, the participants bike in their own pace but there is normally a maximum time limit. Sometimes part of the climbing is done by shuttle or ski lift to maximize the altitude meters. Unlike downhill racing that requires a special bike and lots of protective gear, enduro is done on a more normal mountain bike.
Who can participate?
Anyone who has experience in mountain biking, a mountain bike with good brakes (disc brakes highly recommended) and a helmet can participate in this event. There will be slower and safer lines in some of the more technical parts (so called b-lines), however you should expect to walk some sections if you are new to enduro. If you have a full-face helmet and other protection gears such as kneepads, this is the time to use that equipment.
Why should I participate?
Enduro is an amazing sport that is full of adrenaline and requires both physical fitness and technical skills. It is also known for having a friendly atmosphere and it is totally fine to finish your day with a beer rather than an energy gel. Besides, this is probably one of the most beautiful enduro races in the world with amazing views of the waterfalls and surrounding areas.
